Type 2 Diabetes Study
We are no longer enrolling participants in this study.
In collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, Inova Translational Medicine Institute (ITMI) is looking at how genetics are linked to the development and progression of type 2 diabetes. Ultimately, our researchers are trying to find better ways to predict and treat type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 Diabetes Study at ITMI: Who is eligible
Any patients of Inova or Bay West Endocrinology Associates with type 2 diabetes – and their family members – can participate in our study.
If you are interested in participating, contact Kathi Huddleston. A member of our research team will discuss the study with you and answer your questions about participating.
Type 2 Diabetes Study at ITMI: Why participate
This study would not be possible without people like you, even though this research may not directly help you or your family.
By joining this study, you will have a role in helping our researchers:
- Gather data we need to build genetic models to understand how type 2 diabetes develops in individuals
- Identify new ways to predict and treat type 2 diabetes – and hopefully ways to prevent this disease
Type 2 Diabetes Study at ITMI: What will happen if I enroll
Participation in this study is simple. We will collect samples and ask you to complete a survey.
- Samples: If you participate in this study, we will collect small samples of blood and saliva.
- Survey: We will ask you to complete a brief questionnaire about your medical and family history, diet, social environment, and healthcare behaviors.
There is no cost to participate.
