Injuries we treat with platelet-rich plasma therapy
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is known as a regenerative therapy. For some injuries, PRP can help your body heal itself. Our sports medicine experts carefully assess the extent and location of your injury. We also consider your level of activity and when you can safely return to play after your treatment.
Injuries we treat with PRP include:
- Chronic tendon injuries, such as tennis elbow
- Acute muscle strains
- Arthritis
What is PRP?
PRP is a simple procedure. During PRP, we will:
- Remove a small amount of your blood with a syringe
- Process the blood. This isolates and concentrates platelets, a type of blood cell. Platelets help your body form clots and stop bleeding by sending out chemical messages that attract more platelet cells.
- Inject the concentrated platelets back into the injured area to stimulate healing and reduce pain
