Inova Alexandria Hospital had earned a second consecutive Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade of "A." This designation recognizes our efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States.
The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns grades to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.

Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval® Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center
Inova Alexandria Hospital was the fourth hospital in the country to receive this new advanced stroke certification from the Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. As a Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center (TCS), this designation certifies that Inova Alexandria Hospital meets the rigorous standards for performing endovascular thrombectomy (EVT).
"Get with the Guidelines" Stroke Quality Initiative from American Stroke Association – Gold Plus Award
The American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Stroke Association (ASA) have awarded Inova Alexandria Hospital the GOLD PLUS Award for outstanding specialized stroke treatment.
In addition, Inova Alexandria has attained the distinction of Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite.

Inova Alexandria Hospital is one of only 225 hospitals nationwide to receive the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2019.
This award reflects our commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and that we’ve reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the ACC and American Heart Association’s clinical guidelines and recommendations.
To receive the Chest Pain – MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award, our hospital demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain – MI Registry for eight consecutive quarters and performed at the top level of standards for specific performance measures.
