Round 1: Employee Cook-Off
Inova employees bring in dishes they have prepared at home that feature at least two ingredients that are in season locally in Virginia. The day of the event, a tasting panel samples each dish and selects two winners based on taste, presentation and use of ingredients. These two winners continue on to Round 2.
Round 2: Employee vs. Employee Sampling Round
Inova's Food & Nutrition Services team prepares the recipes from the two Round 2 Cook-Off winners. Both winners are on-site in the cafeteria handing out samples of their recipes. Inova employees and visitors are invited to sample each recipe and vote for their favorite. The winning recipe continues on to the third and final round of the Local Food Olympics.
Round 3: Employee vs. CEO Sampling Round
Round 3 is essentially the same as Round 2 in structure. People vote for the Local Food Olympics winner based on samples handed out in the cafeteria during lunch. In this round, the Round 2 winner's recipe faces off against one provided by the CEO of that operating unit (or in some cases, Inova CEO Knox Singleton himself!).
