Craig Cheifetz, MD, is currently the Regional Dean for the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine Inova Campus and the Director of the Inova Office of Undergraduate Medical Education. He graduated medical school from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed his residency and chief residency at Georgetown University Medical Center. His primary interest is as a clinical educator having completed both the Stanford Faculty Development Facilitator’s Program in Clinical Teaching and the Harvard-Macy Program for Leaders in Medical Education. Dr. Cheifetz has trained over 150 academic and community physician educators in how to become better clinical educators. He has lectured at the national, regional, and local levels in the area of clinical education.

Dr. Cheifetz has been instrumental in both the development and continued success of the Virginia Commonwealth University Inova Campus, as well as the affiliate medical student education programs with the Georgetown and George Washington University Schools of Medicine. He has been the recipient of two Golden Apple Teaching Awards and in 2005 was named as the Young Internist of the Year for the state of Virginia by the American College of Physicians. Dr. Cheifetz is the 2011 recipient of the Enrique Gerszten Faculty Teaching Excellence Award from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and the 2012 recipient of the Walter J. McDonald Award for Young Physicians from the American College of Physicians. He is also the 2011-2013 Chair of the AAMC Group on Regional Medical Campuses.

Dr. Alicia Freedy graduated magna cum laude from State University of New York in Binghamton, New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular psychobiology. She received her medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in Tel Aviv, Israel. Dr. Freedy completed her pediatric residency training at Inova Children's Hospital.

Dr. Freedy has received numerous awards, including Educator of the Month at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine Inova Campus in 2009 and the Richard Schwartz, MD, Teaching Award for Excellence at Inova Children's Hospital in 2006–2007.

Dr. Samantha Buery-Joyner graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree with a major in biology and a minor in mathematics, received an MD degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed obstetrics and gynecology residency training at Columbia University Presbyterian Medical Center Sloane Hospital for Women.

She has received numerous awards, including twice being named the Top Teaching Attending in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine Inova Campus. She also received the Voluntary Faculty Teaching Award for outstanding teaching of residents and medical students from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at George Washington University in 2011. Dr. Buery-Joyner was named the Mentor of the Month by the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine Inova Campus in January 2009, as well as the 2006 Golden Apple Award for outstanding teaching.

Dr. Gregory Trimble is currently the Assistant Dean for Faculty at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine Inova Campus. He is also a hospitalist in Internal Medicine at the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.

Dr. Trimble is a graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency at the University of Utah Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program. His primary interest is faculty development in clinical education and he has completed the Stanford Faculty Development Facilitator’s Program in Clinical Teaching. He served as Clerkship Director for Internal Medicine from 2011 to 2015 and has won numerous institutional awards for teaching excellence. In his current role, Dr. Trimble continues to improve the Inova Campus medical student experience by providing faculty development workshops and lectures to residents and attending physicians in all departments.
