Emergency Medicine Elective

Inova Fairfax Hospital Emergency Department and Inova Trauma Center offer 4-week rotations to fourth year medical students from the VCU School of Medicine and the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in general emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine.

Shifts occur onsite at Inova Fairfax Hospital Emergency Department and at stand-alone Inova Emergency Care Centers.

About Inova Fairfax Hospital emergency services

The Emergency Department and Trauma Center at Inova Fairfax Hospital is designated as a Level I trauma center by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the American College of Surgeons. In 2016 the hospital had over 125,000 visits (85,000 adults and 40,000 pediatric), including 1,200+ trauma activations.

Inova Fairfax Hospital facilitates the largest volume of emergency care in Northern Virginia. Inova Emergency Care Centers are free-standing emergency departments located in the community.
