Patient Information and Resources

If your doctor refers you for an interventional pulmonary consultation, you’ll be seen at Inova Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery, our outpatient clinic, prior to any procedure. Dr. Mahajan meets each patient personally and his multidisciplinary team will review all radiographic imaging and testing performed before the visit and will arrange any additional studies that are needed. During your initial visit, you may also receive a surgical consultation.

Our team will discuss and answer any questions regarding procedures needed for diagnosis or treatment of airway or pleural disorders. These procedures may take place in the bronchoscopy suite located adjacent to the pulmonary function laboratory or the surgery center the Inova Heart and Vascular Institute on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.

Information for Self-Referral

We recommend that you contact your insurance company to verify coverage and to confirm whether a physician referral is required. If a referral is not required, we are happy to see patients as self-referrals and discuss individual cases. If you wish to self-refer, please bring all records from previous physicians along with any radiographic imaging including X-rays and CT scans.
