First 1,000 Days of Life Study

Help Inova determine the future of healthcare

Inova Maternity Services-pregnant couple tnWe believe much of our health is determined during pregnancy and during the first few years of a baby's development.

With this in mind, Inova Translational Medicine Institute is working to find better ways for our children to grow, develop and thrive during their first few years of life.

We invite you to be a part of this process by participating in a research study, Genomic Correlations to Childhood Health Outcomes: The First 1,000 Days of Life.

Do genes play a role?

Watch our video

Do genes help predict the growth and health of children? Inova Translational Medicine Institute, along with Inova Women's Hospital and Inova Children's Hospital, bring the best of science to the best of bedside care for pregnant women and their babies.

Any mother planning to give birth at Inova Fairfax Hospital may be eligible to enroll in this study. If you decide to participate, our team will take samples from you, your newborn, and the baby's father. If possible, we will also sample both sets of grandparents.

We will gather genomic data on the entire family and track your family's health through the coming years as we work to determine the role of genes in childhood development.

Interested in participating?

If you are interested in being part of this study, a member of our research staff will discuss all the study details with you and address all your questions and any concerns. Your safety and care are our first priority.

The study is sponsored and paid for by Inova. Participating families will be compensated for their time.
