Inova Physical Therapy Center
Melanie Elan is a physical therapist who joined Inova Sportsplex in winter of 2018. She has been practicing since 2012 while working in outpatient physical therapy centers in the Northern Virginia area. She has a special interest in working with patients who have orthopedic and sports injuries as well as women with pelvic floor conditions, especially during and after the postpartum period. Melanie speaks proficient Spanish and has worked with patients doing work hardening in order to return them to work after injury.
She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Hunter College in New York, NY and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish from James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA.
Melanie is currently studying to become a certified women's health therapist. She uses a functional approach to improve patients' ability to return to their prior level of function, including returning them to their prior level of athleticism and preventing long-term injury.
Melanie currently lives in Alexandria with her husband and daughter. She enjoys rock climbing and yoga in her spare time.
