The Leapfrog Group is a Washington D.C-based organization aiming to improve health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 2,500 U.S. hospitals twice per year. Inova Fair Oaks Hospital has been designated as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology by AAGL, the leading association promoting minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. This designation means that both the hospital and the surgeons have undergone a review process and met standards to ensure the efficacy, safety and efficiency of their minimally invasive gynecology capabilities. Inova Fair Oaks Hospital’s skilled surgical team performs 94 percent of gynecologic procedures using a minimally invasive approach.

Excellence in weight loss surgery
Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is nationally recognized as an MBSAQIP-accredited comprehensive center for weight loss surgery by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. This designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in obesity surgery.

Accredited cancer center
Inova Fair Oaks Hospital’s cancer center was accredited in 2013 by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation of a cancer center is granted only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment and are able to comply with established CoC standards.
"Get with the Guidelines" Stroke Quality Initiative from American Stroke Association – Gold Plus Award
The American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Stroke Association (ASA) have awarded Inova Fair Oaks Hospital the GOLD PLUS Award for outstanding specialized stroke treatment. In addition, Inova Fair Oaks has attained the distinction of Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite.

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital's breast care program was one of the first in the D.C. metro area to receive accreditation as a nationally recognized breast care provider by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).
