What can I do?

The specialists at Inova Movement Disorders Program are trained in the art of botulinum injections as an effective treatment for a variety of disorders.

Drew Falconer, MD

Whether it is Botox®, Myobloc®, Xeomin® or Dysport®, Dr. Falconer and Dr. Rogers have the experience to accurately dose, mix and administer this therapy. You will quickly experience the benefits of botlinum injections minus the risk of side effects associated with oral medication.

Our specialists utilize EMG technology to ensure accurate placement and minimize discomfort. Botulinum injections are proven to significantly improve the pain, tightness and disfiguring muscle contractions of:

  • Cervical dystonia
  • Segmental dystonia of arms, legs, neck or trunk
  • Writer's cramp
  • Blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm and Meige syndrome
  • Tremor

Additional uses for botulinum injections

Botulinum injections are also extremely effective in the treatment of excessive saliva production, drooling or sweating. Our movement disorders specialists use ultrasound imaging to guide injections for optimal results.

The lasting effect of botulinum injections

The medication is injected directly into the affected muscles or glands, avoiding the side effects of oral medications. Benefits may last three months or longer. With quarterly examinations and adjustments to the therapy plan, benefits can last for years.
