The Future of Inova Loudoun Hospital

Inova Loudoun Hospital has cared for the communities in and around Loudoun County for more than a century – and we plan to care for generations to come.

To meet the needs of our ever-growing community, we are expanding our facilities and services. Our Master Plan expansion project will ensure that Loudouners always have access to high-quality care, advanced technology, and state-of-the-art healthcare facilities – close to home.

Projects already completed

• New, 14-bed Observation Unit
• Addition of the Natural Birth Center at Inova Loudoun Hospital – the area’s only hospital-based Natural Birth Center
• Opening of the new Inova HealthPlex – Ashburn which includes a free-standing 24/7 ER, an Imaging Center, Primary Care, OB-GYN specialists, Physical Therapy, and Pediatric Specialists of Virginia
• Expansion of our Surgical Center (three new operating rooms with support space, new endoscopy suite, and newly renovated waiting area)
• Addition of the new South Hospital Main Entrance
• Inova Heart and Vascular Institute – Schaufeld Family Heart Center expansion:
• New catheterization/electrophysiology suite
• Addition of a new vascular clinic, procedure rooms and a nurses' station
• New, spacious patient and family waiting area and consultation rooms
• Existing procedure room upgrades
• Level III Trauma Designation – Inova Loudoun Hospital is designated Loudoun County’s first and only trauma center
• Addition of the Inova Schar Cancer Institute – Peterson Family Breast Center:
  • Comprehensive breast imaging
  • Breast care navigation service
  • Genetic counseling
  • Life with Cancer^®
• Addition of a new parking garage on the Lansdowne hospital campus
• Enhanced road access with the addition of a new Boulevard

Projects currently underway

• Renovations to the Inova Virts Miller Family Emergency and Trauma Center for a bigger, better, faster ER at Inova Loudoun Hospital
• Upgrades to the Inova Radiation Oncology Center at Loudoun Hospital
  • The addition of a new linear accelerator (LINAC) machine and support space to include a control center, consulting office, women’s dressing room and bathroom
• Upgrades to the Inova Loudoun Nursing and Rehabilitation Center
• The addition of a new patient tower to include:
  • All private patient rooms
  • A new labor and delivery unit with two C-section ORs and a new postpartum unit
  • A new, expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with enhanced capabilities:
    • 24 beds
    • 12 private rooms with accommodations for parents
    • 2 twin rooms
    • 2 pods with four convertible incubators for babies requiring constant observation
    • Rooms for nutrition, medication and consultations
    • Dedicated respiratory therapy services within the unit
    • Laundry area and computer work stations for family
    • Family Transition Room – a hotel-like space where parents and infants can spend the night before discharge to test-run their comfort level
  • New progressive care, oncology and post-surgical units
  • New hospital and outpatient labs
  • A new main entrance, lobby, gift shop and café
