General information

Surgery is scheduled by your surgeon's office. Be sure to contact your insurance company prior to scheduling your surgery to see if you need any referrals and what co-pays you may be responsible for.

If you are scheduled for surgery, you will be asked some questions regarding your medical history, known allergies, medications, and the planned procedure. Different surgical procedures may require different lengths of stay in the hospital. We provide a comfortable lounge for visitors waiting for loved ones undergoing a procedure.

After your surgery, our staff will take you to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) where you will begin to wake up and recover. You will stay in the PACU for about one hour and then be discharged home or moved to a room to continue your recovery. You may still be a little groggy and need some assistance with your medications and getting to the bathroom.

If you are discharged home, it's important to have a family member or friend stay with you during the first 24 hours after surgery. When you are ready to be discharged, a nurse will go over your doctor's orders with you, give you information about medications and diet and answer any questions you may have.
