Joanne G. Crantz, MD, Geriatric Resource Center
Inova Fairfax Hospital officially opened the Joanne G. Crantz, MD, Geriatric Resource Center in December 2010. This innovative and interactive addition to the hospital's Health Sciences Library provides seniors and their caregivers access to valuable information to ease the process of making hard decisions and dealing with daily life.
The Geriatric Resource Center houses an extensive book collection, free pamphlets from national and local organizations, a specialized Internet portal, a low-vision adaptive computer station with a large print keyboard, and hands-on assistive technology devices, such as the Sight, Touch, Sound Program.
The center will also provide educational programs to the community and an annual literature and medicine book discussion about healthcare topics associated with geriatrics.
The Geriatric Resource Center was made possible by a generous gift to the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) in honor of Dr. Crantz.
