Inova Joseph Viar Jr. and Bonnie Christ Cancer Center – Alexandria, a part of Inova Schar Cancer Institute, is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer and the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, with commendation. The center is also accredited by the ASTRO’s Accreditation Program for Excellence (APEx), an independent radiation oncology practice accreditation program which demonstrates respect for protecting the rights of the patient the responsiveness to a patient’s needs and concerns. The APEx 16 standards of performance are derived from evidence-based guidelines that focus on quality measurement to encourage safe and effective radiation oncology care.

In 2016, Inova Joseph Viar Jr. and Bonnie Christ Cancer Center at Inova Alexandria introduced the Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, the most technologically advanced radiation therapy equipment available today. It delivers powerful, targeted radiation treatment to any tumor site in the body, while minimizing exposure to healthy cells. Thanks to precise patient positioning, treatment is faster and more comfortable.
