ICD-10: Coming Oct. 1, 2015
The 10th edition of the International Classification for Diseases is scheduled to take effect Oct. 1, 2015, affecting diagnosis and inpatient procedure coding for all HIPAA-covered entities. ICD-10 training and education, already underway before the recent one-year delay, will continue throughout the year with onsite training from specialty-based experts, as well as group education sessions for independent physician office management staff. Dedicated RN or MD Clinical Documentation Specialists will review your inpatient charts while your patients are being treated. They will submit Concurrent Queries in Epic to assist you in documenting specific to ICD-10 requirements.
