Biography

A native of Virginia Beach, VA, Melanie began her career in the field of physical therapy as a physical therapy assistant in 1997. She continued with her studies to receive her Master's degree in physical therapy from Neumann College in Aston, PA in 2002. Her experience includes tenures in several skilled nursing facilities, assisted living/nursing home centers, home health companies, and outpatient orthopedic clinics.

She joined the Inova Physical Therapy Center at Sportsplex in 2013. Melanie has devoted the past several years to studying with the Institute of Physical Art, honing her skills to prepare to sit for certification in Functional Manual Therapy in the fall of 2017. She is also working towards certification as an orthopedic clinical specialist with the American Physical Therapy association, of which she is a current member of the organization’s orthopedic section.

In her spare time, she enjoys knitting and crocheting, paper crafts, and has recently decided to join her husband and 3 children in studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
