Breast cancer survivor Renee Messalle, a 43-year-old mother in Arlington, Va., knows just how important coordinated care is to patients. Her story illustrates the national need to bring health care's many "moving parts" more closely together in order to improve the patient experience. Two years ago, Messalle found a small lump in her breast. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Inova Breast Care Center hosted Actress Jennifer Aniston. Aniston, along with Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, visited the Center on Oct. 3. Inova surgeons Costanza Cocilovo, MD, and Sara Bloom Bruce, MD, guided them on a tour.
